1990 Interior Design

The interior visual design logic of the early 1990s was comprised of rectilinear form, various materials and elements such as space, light, reflections, gloss, marble, tiles, and glass surfaces.  Metal chrome and gold inlays were used as an accent in furniture legs, picture frames, light fixtures.  Wood, such as honey, golden oak, maple, cherry, and pine.  Chrome and glass were commonly found together in tables and shelving to maximize a feeling of lightness and openness.  The era saw the rise of industrial influences, including exposed metal finishes, which were balanced with comfortable, simple furniture.  Floral wallpaper with dense patterns and border prints at the ceiling.

The colour palette consists of natural muted colors such as forest green, hunter green, burgundy/deep red, navy blue, mustard yellow, and dusty pink.  Beige, taupe, sage green, cyan, and cream.
