What square / rectilinear forms communicated (1988–1993)

Consciously or subconsciously:

• Control – systems are bounded, legible, manageable
• Precision – intentionality, accuracy, engineered outcomes
• Stability – things sit firmly; they don’t wobble or melt
• Forward motion – grids imply progress, direction, flow
• Belief in systems – institutions, technology, design, planning
• Accountability – edges define limits; responsibility has borders
