O' wise one going empty handed to a friend Is like going to the mill without wheat in hand Whenever visit a loved one, you may; Have with you something nice to offer Aye! Allah shall ask people on doom's day What are your gifts to declare on this day? Lost, forlorn, empty handed You came to Me The same way We had once created thee (1) Halt! And present before the Almighty the license Voucher to proceed to the day of recompense No wonder if thou hath no hope of returning (2) Betraying our promise of 'today', untrusting When His promise of entertaining thou has rejected Now you will taste dust and ashes from His kitchenette And if thou art not a disbeliever Why enter a friend's door with hands bare Try to minimize your food and rest (3) And arrange the gift at His behest Thou must not be virulent in thy sleep, Those seeking repentance at dawn be among them (4) Like a baby in womb seek some direction (5) That ye may be blessed with light of perception When thou shall acquire that foresight and vision Thou shall step at the Seventh Sky in heaven |

By eating less they spare food for the needy and by sleeping less they find time for the kind remembrance of the Creator. Thus they find a way of ultimate communion with God |
