Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why can't I seem to find a Dragon Strike set anywhere?

A: Dragon Strike was released in 1993 and is now out of print.

Q: So, how can I get a Dragon Strike set?

A: If you are lucky, you can still find one on clearance at a toy store or hobby shop. Anywhere that sells used games might also have a few lying around. If you can't find any in your area or have no idea where to start looking, http://www.ebay.com/ almost always has a few Dragon Strike sets up for auction for relatively good prices. Simply use the search feature on their site and do a search for both "Dragon Strike" and "Dragonstrike" as I have seen it listed both ways. Most sets on Ebay are used, but every once in a while you'll even see a brand new set still in the shrink-wrapping if you absolutely must have a new one. However, expect to pay a good amount more. Generally, the better the condition the game is in, the more you'll have to pay for it on Ebay. Don't only let price be your guide though, check the description to see if the game is complete if it is used and also look for an auction with a good picture of the contents to get a good idea of the condition.

Q: What are the contents of a complete Dragon Strike set?

A: The contents should be as follows:

1 VHS Video Cassette

2 Double Sided Game Boards

1 Instruction Book

1 Adventure Book

1 Map Book

6 Hero Cards ( Warrior, Wizard, Male Thief, Female Thief, Elf, Dwarf )

110 Total Playing Cards as Follows:

3 Orcs

4 Bugbears

22 Plastic Bases ( 12 Small 10 Large )

43 Cardboard Markers ( doors, treasure, etc. )

3 Dice ( 1 Blue 8-sided, 1 White 10-sided, 1 Black 12-sided)

Q: Why do my game pieces look different than the ones in the video?

A: The pieces used in the video were prototypes that were made prior to the retail production of the game. The final game pieces were slightly changed for the release version.

Q: Is it true that the Warrior in the video was on American Gladiators?

A: Yes, the actor who played the Warrior was an American Gladiator who went by the name of Malibu.

Q: How do I use the video with the game?

A: You don't. Dragon Strike is not a VCR game. The video is simply meant to set the mood for beginners. If you can't manage to find a complete Dragon Strike set, this is probably the easiest thing to do without since it is in no way required to play the game. It also happens to be one of the most common missing items in uncomplete sets, so you might be able to get yourself a good deal if you can live without it.

Q: Are there any official expansion sets or additional adventures that were released for Dragon Strike?

A: No official expansions that I'm aware of, however there was a comic-newsletter that came twice a year with a membership in the Dragon Knights club that claimed to have new adventures in it. Having never sent off for a subscription, I have no idea if they lived up to the promise or not. Any further information about these from someone who actually sent away for it or has otherwise seen one would greatly be appreciated.

Q: What is the Dragon Knights club?

A: It was the "official" club for Dragon Strike that you could send away for. An advertisement with a mail-in order form for the club came bundled with the Dragon Strike game. For $20 you would get a one year membership that included a t-shirt, a specially sculpted figurine of the Warrior, a 12-sided gem transparent die, official membership I.D. card, 2 special edition wall posters, and 2 issues of the Dragon Knights comic book-newsletter. You can view both sides of the double sided ad insert here: side 1 side 2

Q: Were there any other official Dragon Strike products made?

A: Yes. There were some books and a comic that I know of. None of them contain additional rules or adventures for the game, however. You can view images of the one of the books and the comic here: Dungeon of Fear book Dragon Strike Comic
