My Thoughts On:
This page was created for the purpose of promoting my visions for an automobile that does not use a internal combustion engine. Also to share my ideas on other forms of Earth-Friendly practices.
The reason for this goal is reduce waste and pollution, and consumption on the Earth upon which, we all must live.
There have been several attempts to accomplish this by use of a system of batteries. Other attempts have been made using Solar Energy.
My intention is to create an engine that is similar to a wind-up clock and the combined efforts of batteries and Solar Energy. Basically, a full scale version of a wind-up toy from the 1950's, but with the capacity for running electrical systems also.
The design would be arranged so that the driver could wind the spring while still operating the vehicle. It would not impare the ability to drive because of the gear-ratio would only require a few turns. One winding would hopefully last for about 20 miles.
In a radical attempt to further eliminate wasteful use of resources, and unnessessary landfills; it is suggested that older cars be retrofitted with the afforementioned motors, instead of creating a whole new car / series of cars.
Also see this site: Journey To Forever, which I'm not affiliated with, but think is a great & do-able venture.
If you have any helpful
Acceleration: Take a wind-up clock and turn the key a little one way, then the other. You will notice that the speed of the ticking slows and hastens. This same idea would allow the driver to accelerate and to shift gears. But you will also notice that when you speed it up; the energy of the spring is used up faster and then requires more frequent winding.
It is my belief that with the correct gear ratio, that sufficient RPM could be obtained to enable the vehicle to reach and maintain 60mph. Usually this requires 2,000 RPMs and can be obtained from using a series of gears. See this page for an example:HowThingsWork.
