Here are some questions and answers to Kettlebells.

Q. Who am I?

A. I am Martin W. Farrell Professionally Certified
Fitness
Kettlebell Trainer

Q. What is a
Kettlebell?

A. A cast iron weight

Q. Who uses them?

A. Started in Russia as a training tool for the military

Q. What does it workout?

A. Everything simultaneously.  Muscles are connected through joints(tendons) and bones to
bone (ligaments).  The body is an entire event of connective tissue.  Therefore, the body
should be conditioned the way it is made.

Q. How does the
Kettlebell do everything at once?

A. By using the core(abdomen) you compress every single muscle simultaneously from your
glutes, to grip, to abs to feet to create tension throughout.

Q. Is isolation of body parts the way to go like in the gym with weights and machines?

A.  In most cases no.  Since machines isolate you train to create some connective tissue
stronger then others.  This will cause a shift in balance between connective body parts making
the body more susceptible to injury.  When creating total tension you can move far more
weight and get stronger.

Q. Doesn’t getting
stronger make me look more bulky?

A.  It depends on your background and the volume of your workout.
Kettlebells will add lean
muscle where it is needed but will not add unnecessary weight.

Q. Why does lifting
Kettlebells allow me to not get bulky?

A.  It is real word applicable.  A high intensity workout with
Kettlebells teaches the body to
utilize to become as efficient as possible and hack away unnecessary fat and muscle.

Q. What if I just want to
tone and look thinner and leaner?

A.  What will happen depending the program will allow you to become
significantly stronger but stronger muscle mass is much denser then bodybuilding.  Therefore,
your muscles will shrink and become harder while burning fat.  Looking defined is a much
desired side effect.

Q. What is the difference between body building and strength training?

A.  Most people don’t even know that there is a difference.  When people hear the word
weight training they automatically think of body building.  Wrong.  Body building is adding
muscle to the body.  Strength training is getting stronger but without adding mass.

Q.  Can I do both?

A.  Yes but the sets of the workout will increase as must the calories.

Q. How can
Kettlebells measure up to walking running, swimming or other cardio training?

A.
Kettlebells are where cardio training and strength training meet each other halfway.

Q.  What about running being good for cardio?

A. While working efficiently and effectively
Kettlebells work away the fat easier then running
or swimming while jump starting the cardio side

Q.  Walking?

A.  Is very good exercise but can take time and does not work every muscle in the body.

Q.  If
Kettlebells are so great then how can I the average person relate to them?

A.  Because
Kettlebells work everything (cardio to joint strength, muscular strength, skeletal
muscular strength etc), it has been used to promote rehabilitation from back, to knee to
shoulder injuries.  Folks have come back at 40, 50, 60 and even 70 post injury healthier,
stronger and looking better then at 20.

Q.  Am I too
old or too young?

A.  Too young is a factor but in competition, there were men who competed world class at 53?

Q. Will this make
women look bulky?

A. Since the
Kettlebell uses primarily the glutes, hamstrings, abs, obliques to move and
stabilize the weight, women take to it easier then men.  While making joints and muscles
stronger, the fat will melt away for good.  Women will look leaner but be far stronger and feel
much more energetic.

Q.  Why is
stabilization important?

A.  It uses applicable strength that we need in every day lives.  Isolation is bad.  What sport or
combat scenario uses only one muscle group at a time?  It is simply not practical.

Q. How to get started?

A.  I recommend cross training this walking or whatever else it is to do.  Contact me below.
