Welcome to Our Humble Homepage
(Temporarily loaned to Isaac Lofton)
May 24, 2005
At
8:08 pm at UVA, Isaac Brian Lofton was born to the proud parents, Brian and
Heidi Lofton. He was 6 lb 14 oz, 191/2 inches. He is the happiest
baby that the staff at UVA has ever seen. While in the birth canal, his
heart rate remained calm until the last couple of minutes of labor. Also,
he is not that fussy of a baby, it sounds like he is calling instead of crying.
Brian is already an amazing father and can calm Isaac down with a few words.
Heidi is a super mom in the making, which anyone can see as she cuddles Isaac.
(Also, she went through about eleven hours of labor with no pain medicine.)
Between nine and ten the next morning Isaac had a possible one
minute seizure. It was so quick that really none of us new what was going
on until the doctors came in and told us what had happened. With in a half
hour, three or four doctors filed into the room giving their take on the
potential diagnosis. He had already been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, but
the consensus of the doctors was this was not the cause. It was the most
likely cause yes, but Isaac did not behave
like an
average hydrocephalus patient, he was too happy and normal. Through that
day and the following night, several possibilities were given. The most
extreme was a serious infect, while the most mild was that he merely choked on
too much mucus. The latest theory is that he may not have had a seizure at
all.
God is great, this has been a miracle pregnancy. Heidi was told she probably could not conceive, probably could not carry a baby to term, and she probably could not have a natural birth. Well, her birth was all natural as any witness could testify to. (Her favorite word was "C-section") Also, Isaac may be coming home this weekend, if there are no further complications.
We could not be prouder God parents, but we are no where near as proud as his parents.
