Embers of Life
The sunset sets the clouds on fire, a burning, brilliant red.
Her smile then sets his world alight, with the wondrous words she said.
Simple words can hold such sway to create, unite, heal,
That short but sweet "I love you" brings joy no man can steal.
He leans to kiss, leans to comfort, leans to hold her dear,
The turmoil of his life and heart now quiet, calm, so clear.
Mile High
I remember you taking my hands,
Losing yourself in my eyes.
Walking over air towards me,
Stepping out over skies.
I remember your trust in my voice,
Believing that my words were true,
When fear, when doubt is matched with such love,
They surely have no power over you.
Just A Few More *unfinished*
Who is the one that cries alone in that mirror you once bought?
Did you fall so far, so fast from life you just could not be caught?
Why is the harshest cell deep in the prison of your thoughts?
Where does all the pain really go after your seven shots?
Can life, can pain, be drowned out with just enough alcohol?
Will the pain that you ingest, retain, just cause you then to fall?
Does it fill you, does it move you, does it really make things fun?
Are you really just so boring that you need to drink a ton?
Will more in this life make it better, will less make it free?
Why do so many seek to sleep below the lonely sea?
Is hope, is life really forgotten when it finally dies?
Or is there one who loves it all, one who really tries?
Could this life, these things all come to pass by nonexistent luck?
Or would it have fallen apart, would it have come unstuck?
