Education
Here's a list of all the high schools, colleges and universities I've been studying at. You can follow the links if you want to read more about them. 1994-1996: Bø High school Here, I was specializing in chemistry, physics, and mathematics the second and third year. I studied a lot during this period, and to be honest: I didn't really enjoy those days! 1996-1997:
Telemark College, Bø I took a ony-year study in sports, because it's one of my favourites and I felt that I needed some more physical activity after 3 years with a lot of studying in High school. It was a great year, where I really "got it back" for all the time spent with the books in High school. 1997-1998: The Army, Skjold garnison Definitely the most wasted year so far in my life (the army is compulsory in Norway!), but I got some nice hikes and climbs in the cold, dark region nort of the Arctic circle. Autum 98: Universitety of Oslo Before I started here, I decided to go on a one-year study-abroad program in Australia , but I needed to study some philosophy and mathematics before the Norwegian educational loaning fund would pay the University fee in Australia. 1999: University of Newcastle, Australia A year with a lot of new experiences where I learned a lot, both in Uni and in the daily life I enjoyed it so much that Ålesund College in Norway allowed me to stay the whole year, even if the original idea was only half a year. 2000-2001: Ålesund College At the moment I'm here in Ålesund, a small town on the beautiful west-coast of Norway. I'm in the last semester of the 2-year GIS-degree. We are working on our graduation main task, which is a project for the a Norwegian harbour company, making a web-based map for all the harbours in the region around Ålesund. Since I always have been studying, my jobs are limited to summer holidays and part-time working. Here are the places I have been working:
Summer 97:"Green division" , City of Bø My job was to move lawns in parks, sporting fields etc. in Bø. Quite easy and relaxing job! Summer 98: "Green division", City of Bø Same job as last year. Autum 98: The Directorate of Public Construction and Property, Telemark College Because I had a lot of routine mowing lawns, I got a job once a week while I was studying in Oslo. The job was pretty much the same as those the last two summers, just in another area. Autum 98: Conepicking, Telemark botanical college Yeah, you red it right! This was a very special job, and not for people afraid of heights! Telemark botanical college needed someone with properly equipment to pick cones from treetops and send them to be planted in other places. As a climber, I got the job, got a huge pay and went to Australia! Autum 2000/Spring 2001: Unloading fish, Losseservice, Ålesund This is a pretty heavy jobb, where we are helping fishing boats getting rid of their loads when they are coming in to fish factories. It can be long days, up to 14 hours or more, but it's great for students since you can work when it suits you. I still have this job, and I hope I can keep it until I'm finished here in Ålesund.
