Skills

* Proficient with PCs and Macintosh
* Layout: PageMaker, Quark Xpress, Adobe InDesign
* Illustration: Freehand, Corel Draw, Illustrator
* Web: Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Adobe Image Ready
* Photography: Photoshop
* I specialize in achieving professional looking design using MS Word, MS Powerpoint and MS Excel. Why? Many clients use these software products and they need good-looking, well thought out templates so they can manage their own content. It saves them time to have a professional do the design.

Goals

I put function before art in graphic design. That is unless "art" is the primary function of the intended design. Clever image metaphors and complicated imagery often distract from the intended message of a piece. I want the audience to understand the message within seconds of looking at it. Then artistic elements of balance, negative space, visual weight and color may be applied to make the page sing.

I don't tinker with computers hoping a design will look good by using numerous software tools. Sketching design ideas is a faster and more thoughtful process. Once the client has a picture in their mind, the design is ready to be executed on computer.

I encourage and embrace constructive criticism about my designs. It is far less expensive to make corrections to a design before it is published.
