Birds and Nature
I have been an active Audubon Society member since 1997 and I am currently on the board of the Audubon Society of Corvallis. I serve as editor of the Chat monthly newsletter. web site

I teach bird watching and tracking classes at Linn-Benton Community College. I am also a independent home-study student of the Wilderness Awareness School (Duvall, WA) web site

I happily learn and share information about local birds, plants, trees, animals and ecosystems. I have often taken the role of conservationist but I am not an environmental zealot. In my business experience and conservation efforts I have embraced different political, philosophical and social values. I have learned to be considerate with the concerns of others.

Bicycles as Transportation
Since 1996 I have not owned a car and have faired quite well in getting myself around. Why? Bicycles cost 10% or less to operate than a car. I get regular exercise. I see and hear things that motorists miss like birds, wildflowers, wildlife etc. I'm not dangerous to pedestrians or animals. With my trailer I can carry almost anything that a small car can.

The list goes on. I actually enjoy life more without the hassles of car ownership. I work and live in proximity to everything that I need, so distance isn't an issue. I take carpools, trains, busses and planes to get myself to further destinations

Primitive Crafts
I like to learn and emulate skills that people have known for thousands of years but have recently forgot due to civilization conditions. I've learned some typical things like making fire without matches, making rope from gathered plants, shelters, edible wild foods and tool making.

Here are a couple photos of some primitive weapons in use.

I have experience with earthen building construction and plan to make my own home using the Cob building technique. Cob uses clay, sand and straw (not corn) and it makes a very strong and aesthetically pleasing structure. See for yourself and follow these links:

Family
I am the son of Donald L. Boucher and Dolores M. Onufry. Mom lives in Scranton, PA and Dad lives in Deer Park, WA. I have 3 siblings. Eldest is Michele Boucher who lives in Scranton with Mom and her son Chris York and daughter Lauren York. Derrick lives in Mountain Top, PA with his wife Pam. Robert lives in San Diego with his wife Julie and son Spencer.

They say you can pick your friends but not your family. Lucky for me, my kin mentioned above are all my friends.
