| Welcome to Rome! Initially I had no real interest in visiting here, however, it was fantastic and I am so thankful my traveling mate convinced me it is a city worth the effort! These are just a few photos of a few rolls worth of film, and some of my very favorites. Roma is indeed a beautiful and mysterious city full of rich culture and history. I was in awe of this "citta'..." We had a great time exploring inside and outside of this magnificent structure. As you can see from the photo, the exterior is towering. Because it's so massive, I couldn't get a true feeling for it's size until I went in. I would not have imagined how awesome and expansive it is. We were there for at least a couple of hours walking all the way around the interior. |

| We also took a night tour of Rome, and an interesting fact given to us by the guide was that this arena held 55,000 people and it only took 5 minutes for the guests to vacate once the events concluded! Directly across the street is an outdoor restaurant/cafe where we "people watched" while we lunched. The weather was mild, and we sat and chatted while watching the Romans and tourists go about their own business. Outside the walls of the Colosseum we met Alberto, a costumed Roman soldier, who was warm with a great sense of humor. There are many costumed soldiers around the grand arena, and they charge 5.00 USD to take a picture with you. Alberto proved to be a warrior indeed - he posed for several photos with us and didn't charge us anything. His English was quite good since he spent a year in Colorado teaching children to speak Italian! |

| Another magnifcent structure that is located directly outside Il Colosseo is the Arch of Constantine, a triple archway. As you can see from the photo below, it too is "high" and yet the Colosseum towers over it. Beyond Constantine, up on the hill, sits the Roman Forum. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
