The large one is more-or-less operated by the park. The restaurant has showers and toilets and is newly built in 2002. The lifeguard also rents sunbeds an -shades.
The cliffs are some ten to fifteen metres high and when low tide, even give access to an other more secluded beach. Even in August there is enough space to avoid the "sardine-feel".
A bit more to the east, direction Albufeira is the small beach of Sao Rafael, which also consists of two or three parts. Those beaches are smaller and when very high tide there is almost no dry sand left. Usually in summer it doesn't get that high. The restaurant here is renovated in 2003, privately owned and also rents sunbeds and -shades.
The big advantage here is for small children: when low tide the rocks create a pool in front of the restaurant where the water is warmer and there is no current, though there are some rocks in the water.
