Chemistry (R and H)
Where I've Been I was born and raised in Port Jefferson Station, NY. PJS is on the north shore of Long Island and I've lived here all my life. I went to Comsewogue HS and then to SUNY Albany for my undergraduate work. After graduating I started my job at Lindenhurst and then got my masters degree from SUNY Stony Brook. Now I'm taking lots of SCOPE and TEI courses to broaden my knowledge and move up the ladder to MA+75. My Life as an Educator Even though Chemistry is a hard topic I think most of my kids would see me as a funny, wacky teacher. I try to do whatever I can to help them understand the content and maybe have a little fun at the same time. The 2003-2004 school year is my 7th yr in Lindenhurst and I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I really like teaching at the high school level and don't see myself changing. One lesson that I love to do is one that I just completed last week in class-it's an organic molecule race lab where they have to put paper pieces together to create the given molecule in the shortest amount of time. The kids really get into it, the room gets all fired up, and it always makes me feel good to see them get excited about chem. When I'm Not Working... When I'm not working I like to read, go to movies, watch tv, go shopping, and hang out with my friends. Hopefully I'll be able to travel more in the upcoming years--I'd really like to visit Europe and Australia. I love all kinds of tv shows and movies and can recite all sorts of quotes. When it comes to books I go for lighter reading; things like Harry Potter and Bridget Jones' Diary. Web Sites I Like
