The experimental movie we will be filming is titled Pocky Monsters: Finally, Misty's a Whore! (Yes, Misty's back!) and is a parody of Pokmon the first Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back, Pokmon 2000: The Power of One, and random episodes of the first season of the series with elements of Death Note, Buso Renkin, Chuck Norris films, Pokmon Yellow, Batman, "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" by Lemon Demon, and Nymphomation by Jeff Noon. I know what youre thinking. "Pokmon so 90s" The title already gives away that this isnt the cutesy anime kids have grown to know and love. A night of horror movies and some ideas from James Uhde have beaten this script off the original plotline of Pokmon. Here is a very brief, watered down, and a little bit inaccurate description of the script. See the full script here. Doctor Oaken created the worlds strongest Pocky Monster twice. Now that he is dead, there is no one to control the two Pocky Monsters: Pikachu and Mewtwo. It is up to his assistant, Brock, to kill these two Pocky Monsters to keep them from wreaking destruction. Unfortunately, Ash Ole owns one of these destructive Pocky Monsters and the only item that can easily destroy both. He has no intention of killing his Pikachu either. The situation doesnt get any better when Pikachu dies in a freak accident leading Ash to decide to kill everyone on the planet, and the simplest way to do that is to change Misty's sexual orientation. Ash recruits the powers of the pimptastic Mewtwo, and the world is well on its way to destruction. Its up to Brock, Misty, Togepi the sadistic Pocky Monster, and the last surviving member of Team Rocket to save it. There will be other videos to go along with this one, the first three being Radnom, Why Won't Pokmon Die!?!, and Radnom 2 which some of you may have already seen on YouTube. The third one, of course, is the blooper reel. The fourth one is optional. It is a The Making Of video which requires short interviews of the cast and crew using questions that we decide and ask upon everyone, specific questions asked of that person by other members of the Pocky Project, or questions the interviewee asked of themselves. Other videos can be sent in by you, and I might make another one or two. The best ones will be included on the Pocky Project DVD(s) burned at the completion of the project. If the Pocky Project is a success, there just may be more projects with scripts from other people. Anyone who wants to get their scripts on screen in an experimental film like this support the Pocky Project! Other teams may require pictures of the area you are filming in, pictures of your character in case a double in their city is needed, and all footage of course will have to be pooled in the city of the video editor(s) (so far just my city). This project will use the Internet to its full potential. Snail mail is a last resort when it comes to sending sound, music, pictures, and video to cities as it costs money that I would prefer not be spent on this no pay project. At least one person in your group should have Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger to easily send video and large sound files around. A Google Video account would also work for video. E-mail could be used to send small sound files and pictures. Gmail's maximum e-mail size is 20MB and Yahoo's is 5MB. MySpace and Photo Bucket are also good sites for sharing pictures. I will also post screenshots on this website from time to time as I edit footage. If sending stuff through the Internet isnt possible, which I really hope wont happen, Ill accept CDs, mini DVs, DVDs, audio tapes, or VHS tapes (yes, I accept audio and VHS tapes if you like doing things the old fashioned way) via snail mail. Sending everyones footage together in a city in one box/package may save shipping costs. Speaking of VHS tapes, there is a way to put them onto a computer if you also have a digital camera (this is the only method I know of and can talk you through at least). If you need instructions on how to do this, let me know. Though I have several video editing programs, they dont accept all video and audio formats. The preferred video formats are movs, avis, wmvs, and mpgs. The preferred audio formats are wmas wavs, and mp3s. Dont freak out, if you cant record stuff in these file formats. These are only the preferred formats and not the full list. I do have ways of converting as well. I dont want to restrict any costume designers out there. I just want to save the team some time and money. First, dont go out and buy a hundred dollar costume. Second, sure cut up a book cover and turn it into a loin cloth over your under armor but dont spend a whole lot of time and money making a costume. Third, dont stress over the details. Fourth, keep it PG-13. Finally, remember costumes dont make a video. Its the people working on it (cheesiness). During the closing credits Im looking for low movement shots. Examples include, a long shot of the sky and (stolen right from JAC) actors walking slowly across the scene in front of a stationary camera. Since Pocky Monsters is an Anime Backstage script, which traditionally have parodies of commercials in them, you can also create commercials or very short skits (Ill accept skits this time around). If very short stuff isnt your cup of tea, theres also room for short films (three to twenty minutes long) to go alongside Pocky Monsters. These must be Pokmon related skits to be considered part of this particular Pocky Project. Keep an eye out on the website for these very short and short skits by other writers, if you and some friends are interested in filming one and havent the creative brains to come up with your own. The Making Of is an optional video that requires short interviews with the cast and crew using questions we will choose as a group and ask of everyone, questions an interviewee asks themselves, or questions that members ask of the interviewee individually. It also requires some backstage footage (tightening belts, practicing for a scene, fighting with the director, etc.). The most obvious flaw in this idea, besides that its based on Pokmon, is that not all the actors will be in the same cities and may not be able to travel to other cities. Preferably, actors that appear in many scenes together should be together in one city (e.g. Brock, Ash, and Misty and Jessie and James). If this is not possible or for other actors that appear in a scene, they will be cut out and inserted into the main footage during the video editing process or they will just film in similar locations and the footage will be cut accordingly in the video editing process. Which will be done in each scene should be discussed beforehand. The script that outlines where characters will be inserted and how to film such shots can be viewed here. Unlike most home made movies Ive worked on, this one requires a fair bit of special effects most of which can be taken care of during the post production process (video editing). Now that I have decent video editing software, your footage is garenteed to be epic. Even with this very good software, some scenes will have to be filmed in a particular way in order to lighten the load on the video editors. Instructions for how to film special effect scenes will be posted here. If you have any other questions, concerns, or comments go to the Contact page and e-mail me. Questions will be posted on a Q & A section on this page (your name will not be posted unless otherwise requested), if I dont write an short article on it myself later. |
