PARIS FASHION DOLL FESTIVAL 2003
Updated on 15 April 2003
Sunday 30 March : The Sales Room
So this is the last day of the Festival. We woke up extra early to set up our booth in the sales room (the clock was adjusted at midnight to account for daylight savings time). We brought along Malaysian traditional outfits made by our KL Fashion Doll Club members together with some Barbies for sale.
I took a lot of video shots instead of digital still shoots during the day but unfortunately was not able to transfer any good quality photographs from the video for this page. Some of my photos also didn't come out right especially of the MADC's display dolls. The MADC dolls for 2003 are really beautiful, even Cissy! If anyone has a photo of the MADC dolls on display, would appreciate a link. Thanks.
Anyway, there were a lot of stalls set up, some taking up more than one. I had a wonderful time just browsing at the stalls, most of them being Barbies. Kathy Moreau's stall took up a whole side, she had numerous LE Tylers/Sydneys/Alex etc which (if I had the money to spare), I would have bought the whole lot! There were also makeover artists selling their wares, oh, such beautiful dolls!

I was a bit disappointed that Robert didn't bring Matt along for the show. Nevertheless, I felt very lucky to be able to view some of the 2003 range that he brought along. My favourite would be Love is Blue Sydney and the Reporter in Red Brenda is fantastic!! I've never been a fan of Kitty Collier as I don't really like the glass eyes but I actually am thinking of getting the Park Avenue Kitty, I love her suit. Itty Bitty Tiny Kitty is really cute and totally adorable, I will probably get the redhead soon as I've already got the blonde and brunette TK.

Fashion Jane was looking a bit forlorn as she was sitting all alone by herself. I'm glad we won the centrepiece Fashion Jane and will definitely get the basic one as well, together with the outfit. Can't wait for Miss Nancy to post the order form.

The highlight of the day was the make-over competition with the theme "The fabulous 40's and 50's". Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any good photos of the competition dolls so would not be able to show you the winning doll in the 16in category. It's a beautiful copy of the Pierre Balmain's TDLM # 111. Tom Courtney of the RTDC also won the judges award for best dressed doll - beautiful in red (similar to Reporter in red).
I also tried my luck in entering for the lucky draw. Prizes include the Fashion Jane, Parisienne Sydney, TDLM Tyler, Barbies etc. Unfortunately, our luck ran out so we returned empty handed at the end of day.
That's all folks. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my first doll show. Now I will have to start planning for the Robert Tonner Doll Club's convention to be held in Chicago in April 2004. Hope to see you there!
