Lynne Butcher

Lynne Butcher has been teaching and designing cloth dolls for many years and has had a successful career travelling throughout Australia, New Zealand and America spreading the word. She is proud to be able to call many of the world's most successful designers her mentors and good friends. Lynne was honoured to have been inducted into the Doll-O-Rama 'Hall of Fame' in 2000 and has just returned for the second time from San Francisco, where she taught as Australia's only representative at Doll University. Lynne is probably best known for her quirky, stress free workshops where she often teaches her lycra skin technique which individualises each student's doll by adding inserts between the layers. Many people have commented how difficult her dolls look but how easy they are to make! Lynne loves teaching and it shows in her natural style. She is often heard to say, "I have the best job in the world!"

In this busy one day workshop students will needlesculpt and paint three cloth heads using three different techniques and materials.
Sculpted Two-Piece Cotton Head with 3-D Eyes and Lids: This technique demonstrates simple sculpting that can be used on almost any doll. The addition of lidded eyes and beaded teeth gives the face a comical cartoon look.
A Four-Piece Poly-Cotton Head with a Lycra Skin Stretched Over, Sculpted with Inserts Added, and Painted: You will learn how to make the perfect nose!
A Two Piece Lycra-Only Head, Sculpted and Painted: This unusual technique often has students puzzled right up until the end, when it finally all 'comes together'. The head fits my Lady Lyndall Lush pattern but students will be shown how to turn this unpainted head into a chubby, sleeping baby amazing but true!!

Level: All
Kit: $15.00 containing three pre-stitched heads, eyes, beads,
some accessories, use of face painting materials and
forceps, thread, sculpting needle and full instructions.
