Design It Yourself
One Day Class
Tuesday
154

Can I turn you into a good designer in one day? Of course not, but I can show you a number of tips to make designing a figure a bit easier. This class is not about making changes to an existing pattern, but designing from scratch. In this fun class you will be making a pattern for a one piece figure. The figure you design will be cut from hand-dyed fabric and ironed onto the front of a T-shirt, so your design can be admired by all! Comprehensive notes, discussion and the samples I bring will show you how to turn your flat pattern into a doll. Dancing Woman is just one example of the type of design that can be made.

Level: All
Kit: $20.00 includes: Hand -dyed fabric, iron on bonding, pattern - Dancing Woman, notes and other bits and beads. I will supply paper for patterns.
Preparation: Minimal - you will be sent some notes and requirement list.

Liliana

155

A spectacular doll (height approx. 56cm) with a wired dress in the shape of a lily. She is easily constructed - a half doll mounted on a base. The base shapes can be varied in shape and height, the petals arranged in different ways for different effects. The arms can be attached in various positions. Face drawings will be provided - but you do not have to use them. If you have a problem with faces - bring a spare head for practice. In class you will learn what you can do with wires - techniques suitable for use on many dolls.

Level: All
Kit: $15.00 includes: Flower wires, patterns (other leaf/petals), pattern (full body/legs), notes. I will supply glue.
Preparation. You will be sent patterns, instructions, ideas. Options and requirements list.

Fabulous Flowers
Japanese Fabric Flower Techniques

One Day Class
Friday
156

Learn this delightful art and make the most gorgeous flowers to add finishing touches to your dolls. Many of the petal/leaf patterns are also useful for making clothing/wings for dolls. These techniques are not difficult. The small flowers require almost no sewing. Larger flowers are handstitched or use a combination of both gluing and stitching. In class we will be making small flowers. You will be sent a pattern for a small fairy (to decorate in class). You will also be sent the pattern for a large Hibiscus pin to wear for Paradise Extravaganza. This has been specially designed to use chenille sticks instead of the usual flower wires and to show you the basic stitching technique - so it can be easily made at home!

Level: All
Kit: $20.00 includes: Flower patterns, technique notes, silk/cotton fabrics, flower wires, beads and bits. I will supply paint/glue.
Preparation: Fairy (optional) and Hibiscus
