Jeraldene Just is a freelance illustrator and photographer specialising in representations of the human figure. She has been creating stuffed studies of people for at least 30 years.

Embellishment is never there for its own sake, or just for decoration. It is included because what it adds cannot be left out of the revelation of character. It may subtly hint at a larger aspect of personality or taste, or pinpoint a particular foible of the nature of the particular character being represented. It is hoped that in enjoying these creations, viewers can relate them to their own observations�.and then look, with even sharper vision and relish, at the world around them.

If Alice's Wonderland can be seen as a kind of Paradise, the Extravaganza element for the design comes from the outrageously-glitzy disco fabrics used to make him. Impact is in the evening-wear fabrics and the loose-skinned, slippery way they "fit". Slick, shiny, cloth is not going to be exactly cuddly, and some fingers will flinch from coolly-repulsive surfaces He is not meant to be beautiful, nor cutely -appealing, but he does have eye catching and tactile interest and may balance a collection by embodying aspects of Gold Coast entrepreneurs or the Nightclub Scene. His underlying structure uses a plastic bottle armature and unwanted tough fabric. A couple of sets of iridescent or glittering fingernails and false eyelashes complete his over-the-top rich party-animal image.
