Marilyn Halcomb

I've been making dolls for as long as I can remember - used to make funny little dolls and tiny clothes and leave them out for the fairies, who would leave me a little gift in return. My dolls are known as 'Real Characters' because so many times when they've been on display at shows etc. people would look at a doll and say "That's a real character, isn't it!" I tend to make some fantasy fairies, elves, goblins, pixies, etc. as well, but mostly they are character dolls, tending towards realism.
My dolls have evolved a lot over the years, with help and assistance from a lot of people, not the least of which have been the very generous American doll tutors who have visited Australia from time to time Doll making is such a fascinating art - after all we are in the business of reproducing and reworking ourselves.
