Liz Farrell

I have been an enthusiastic doll maker and creator since 1998 after attending an inspirational Lynne Butcher workshop in Gladstone.
In cloth dolls I have found my true niche, something that gives me a real feeling of joy and satisfaction. I love creating my own dolls and stretching my skills and ideas. I was honoured to have 'Ignis - Fire Dancer' win the Things I Like
Challenge at the inaugural Doll-O-Rama 2000. Shortly after that event I turned my 'Verdigris' creation into a pattern and enjoyed tutoring him in a Gladstone workshop.
In a joint venture with my 'dolly friend' Robyn Williams we have created a beginners doll pattern 'Pierrot and Clown,' and have conducted workshops in Gladstone and Biloela. We have also taught different craft groups in Gladstone, Biloela and Yeppoon cloth doll sculpting; using a pin doll pattern created by Robyn.
I believe doll making keeps you young and I love sharing, learning and making friends in the pursuit of them.

The techniques used to create him include:
Stuffing techniques, sculptured face, teeth, hands, elbows, feet, knees, ankles and ears, face colouring for definition and features, inserted eyes with lids and lashes, wired and beaded wings, ears and hair, button jointed arms and legs, created hair and decorations using machine embroidery.
