The Art of Cloth Doll Sculpting has become a passion of mine. In the three years I have been working with cloth I have found it to be a wonderful and exciting medium to work with and have found such a blessing in creating the things I love as a -one of a kind - "Mythical and Faerie Realm Character Doll" and sharing with others, who have a desire to learn my skills and techniques. I have mainly taught privately on a one to one basis or in small groups. The dolls themselves have generated a lot of interest from collectors and doll lovers and I have been asked on many occasions to exhibit them, they can also be seen in Galleries.

Needle Sculpting and Painting Techniques In "Creative Fantasy"

In this class we will cover a range of techniques to bring together a needle sculpted contoured head and graceful needle sculpted hands to enhance the doll in your imagination. The class will include sewing, clay/fibre stuffing, drawing, needle sculpting, painting techniques, hair and eyelashes. Then the students will design their own look, using these techniques.

In this class of "Creative Fantasy" we will explore and consider the "Figure in Fantasy". The students will learn how to create a wire armature, two skeletal structures will be constructed in class. The first with the aid of the teacher and the second, the student will create using class notes, so you will be able to make them at home for your own dolls just waiting to be born. Simple batting techniques and adding interesting parts to enhance the shape and contour of the structure.

Level: Intermediate
Kit: $30 Contents covers Two Day Class. Extensive notes will be provided. Wire for 2 Armatures, tape, wadding, T-pins, nylon stocking and thread, fibre fill, wooden beads, needle and threads, fabric draping.

Soft Sculpture Techniques

The wire armature made in the previous day's class will be used to sculpt the "Figure in Fantasy". In this class the student will learn how to soft sculpt, using wadding, fibre fill and other techniques to build muscles, breasts, buttocks, knees, elbows and other bits to create the dolls you can visualise in your own imagination. The student will also learn wrapping techniques and sewing on nylon skin. Simple draping techniques to enhance the "Creative Figure", position your creation with grace and poise.
