Information for Pumping Moms

Breastpumps 101 - All breastpumps are NOT the same! When considering a breastpump, it's important to look for one that will come as close to mimicking what your baby does at the breast as possible. This is the difference in what makes a pump effective and comfortable versus one that is ineffective and may even cause discomfort or trauma to nipple or breast tissue. There are certain criteria to consider when comparing breastpumps.

As a general rule, a breastfeeding baby with a good suck can remove most of the milk from one breast in about 10-20 minutes. A good pump should mimic the baby.
