| After noticing a strong musty smell in the car every morning after a heavy night's rain, I began to get a little suspicious about the water-tightness of the car. Looking behind the pedals, there was the tell-tale mark on the carpet of a drip. "Ah well", thought I "it's only a drop, sure what harm can that do?" Decided to wash the car because of all the salt on the roads, and after this discovered the drivers footwell was literally filled with water. Never noticed before as the rubber mat did a good job of disguising it. However, further investigation with a wire brush revealed a sizeable hole between floorpan and the side panel, so a little welding required there then. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| External rust now. This big hole on the rear arch is literally growing by the day because of the tons of salt the council throws on the roads - thank goodness the inner arches are undersealed. With no money to fix the arches properly, for now a good dousing with kurust and a skim of isopon will have to do. Hopefully be able to fix them properly when the summer comes around. The bottom of the driver door has broken out in the last couple of months. I was always suspicious of the location of that STP sticker as applied by the previous owner. Door skins for the four door are nigh on impossible to come across, so a temporary patch repair will have to do until I can find a proper bodywork person to fix it fairly cheaply. At least anything I do now can only improve the situation! |

| The little car looking a bit shiny following a good wash and wax. Sadly the weather is much too cold and damp to give her a proper polish. The overall condition of the car is really surprisingly good for her age, and given the fact that most of her kind are now otherwise employed e.g. washing machines, corrugated roofing etc. Determined this summer to finally make that paintwork shine, or failing that start saving for a respray. At least then I won't have to blend in all the rusty bits (stop laughing Russ, jealousy is terrible). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
