t was a few weeks later, and Analissa had noticed little change in the small Hatchling. However, she had bonded with it wholly, amazed at what she was willing to do in order to protect it. She hadn't had any need to, however, for there were few cold-hearted creatures in the forest. Today she was wandering down a dirt path she had not seen before, the grey dragon in a basket-pack (the type of carrying device she used in the Forest, like a basket only more flexible, with straps. You wear it on your back) on her back. It was very curious, its green eyes always wide open, small nose always sniffing. She turned around a bend in the path and stopped, surprised. There was little of the Forest Ria did not know about, but surely Analissa had not heard her speak of this place. It was a large clearing, surrounded protectively by ancient Oaks, the sacred trees of the Forest. The grass was emerald green, and in the center, on a tall pedastal, was a crystal about twice the size of a modern-day bowling ball.
It shone with a bright light, but somehow the woman was not afraid to look into it. She was amazed now, at what she saw. There was Ria, with her little blue baiton Anan, stirring up some concoction in a large pot. She blinked, and she saw Tamar galloping through the forest. Again, and she saw something familiar, yet strange. A pale woman with silver hair, sleeping curled around a small grey Silver Valley hatchling. Lastly, she saw the most bizzarre thing of all. She blinked and saw a woman with tall grey and black wings and long brown hair, walking authoratatively down a hallway. People bowed to her, and behind her a tawny dragon followed close behind. She looked up, seemingly directly at Analissa, and winked. The image faded and the crystal was left shining ever brightly. She took a deep breath, and regained her thoughts. The hatchling, so far unnamed, was wriggling in the basket-pack, so she let her down. Immediately her grey nose led her to a clump of tall grass. Curious as well, Analissa followed and brushed some of the grass back. There was a stone, inscribed roughly with some words in the language of the Forest. Be well, my friend, and watch over those friends of yours. The woman sat there a while, pondering this obviously very old message. The hatchling wandered the clearing sniffing and chasing butterflies. Twisting her long blonde hair around her fingers, the answer finally came to her. Of course!, she thought, A seeing crystal! The Girl must have used it to keep and eye on the residents here, as the keeper of the Forest. That last woman still confused her, but the single answer was enough to keep her happy. She gathered up the hatchling and set back off into the Forest. She had walked for a while when she finally reached the part of the Forest she lived in. To her surprise, Lynmari and the white dragon were there already. "Well, there you are!" she said, feigning impatience and frustration. She smiled. "Can I see the hatchling?" reluctantly, for she was very protective, Analissa handed the now sleeping grey dragon to the elf. The wood elf pulled a strange crystal from around her neck. She holds it to the dragon, bathing it in a soft glow. Within moments she begins to change, growing larger. The caretaker could see the wings strengthen, the skin changing to a deep green. Soon it was an adolescent, almost fully grown. Without allowing her to react, Lynmari handed Analissa a scroll and leapt onto her dragon, flying off. If you are receiving this letter then must have been taking well then enough care for Lynmari to have given this to you. I thank you! She will return again shortly, and like before we will be checking on your dragon often to make sure it is adjusting well. I congratulate you on your dragons growth. I hope you received the color that you desired, if not I am sorry, but please try again! Again please reply to this letter but this time you are required to send me the name of your dragon. Clutch #06 Adolescent
Sincerely,
The newfound adolescent was stretching her wings, even leaning down to see herself in the pond. Analissa pulled a quill from her pack. She scribbled out "Undecided" on the letter, and replaced it with "Gaea".
