| It took them next to no time at all, but it seemed to take forever to David. When the got there he said goodbye to his mom and walked up the hill to the party house. He walked in the door and looked at the clock on the wall. �Hmm, I�m early. I bet Stan�s here already though. Wonder where he�s hiding?� at that second some one had jumped behind David and placed his hands over David�s eyes. � Guess who?� David was startled at first, but then realized it was Stan. � Man you scared the crap out of me.� � Oh really? I thought it�d take a little more then that to scare YOU. But hey, we can�t all be gifted like me.� They both had a hearty laugh and then started talking about what had happened this year to both of them. � I tell ya man. This year�s been a blast, but I still miss everyone back at valley.� �Yeah man, we all miss ya too. But hey at least your having fun right?� � Yeah, But it�s just not the same. Oh well. Hey look it�s Tom. I tell ya he�s one of very few reasons I�m glad I moved.� David laughed at this cause he knew it was true and he felt the same way. Tom walked in seeming over energetic. �Hey Stan, David what�s up?� Both David and Stan said� Hey tom�, only so he wouldn�t bug them and with a slight hint of animosity in their voices. After about 5 minutes of forced conversation with Tom David decided to go get some drinks. He wasn�t exactly thirsty, but it was an easy way to get away from Tom. As he came back with the drinks he heard the front door close and heard Tom practically screaming, � Hey girls, have seat, sit down, be comfy.� David inwardly felt sorry for who ever it was. Because he knew by the sound of Tom�s voice that he had made them sit by him and that they would soon be bored to death by Tom. David entered the living room to see Nicole and Jennifer sitting next to Tom. He was actually surprised that Nicole could actually just sit there. He expected her to go ballistic in t-5 minutes and counting. Which he lowered considerably when Tom started to talk to her. It was to laugh. � Well well Nicole, I don�t think I�ve ever heard you be this quite.� �Shut. Up. Tom.� � Wow. Chill there. We don�t want to deal with one of your temper tantrums.� And before Nicole could retaliate David stepped in. � Hey Nicole ya wanna come out here and help me with the stereo?� �Yeah I�m coming.� She was fuming but everyone< except Tom of course, could tell she was glad to get away from him. And frankly, no one blamed her. � Thanks for saving me David.� � Any time. I know you�d do the same for me. At least I hope.� They both laughed as David started the music. Everyone came in. David had noticed that most everyone had already arrived, and the rest came shortly. In minutes they were all having a good time, laughing, dancing, making fools of them selves. Then when David heard a nice slow song playing he figured that would be the best time. He slowly but semi-confidently walked towards her. He stopped, only about 5 feet away from her. And when he finally got up the confidence, he took one step, and then was stopped. He saw Tommy; he had walked up to her grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him. They laughed and � kissed. Right there in front of David. At that second David became heartbroken and stormed out of there. No one seemed to see him or care. And David didn�t really care either. He went through the door about knocking someone over. He didn�t even take time to see who it was. It was Nicole and she was somewhat concerned. It wasn�t like David to act like this. She saw him sit on the curb outside the house. He looked terrible, angry, and she thought that he might be crying. So she went to him to help him, hoping she could get him to calm down. �David? Are you alright?� �Yeah� yeah I�m fine.� David said through barred teeth and tried to hide his face. � What�s wrong? You look mad.� A concerned look on her face. �I told you I�m fine.� He said as he threw something to the ground and stomped off down the street. She knew he was going home and there was nothing she could do to stop him. She looked at what he had thrown and was suddenly very interested in it. She picked it up and looked at a tag that was tied to a piece of rolled up paper by a red ribbon. She looked down again and saw a crushed red rose on the ground. Then she read the tag. It had one word on it. A name rather, it read � Jennifer�. Nicole looked shocked for a minute then went back to the party with an expression of surprised infuriation on her face. She walked right up to Jennifer saying, � Jenn, I need to talk to you. NOW!� � Tom, could ya give me a sec?� With a nod from tom she went out side with Nicole. � K, what�d you want?� � READ THIS!� Nicole said as she thrust the piece of paper at her. Jennifer grabbed it from her hand and noticed the tag had her name on it. Then she opened it and read. � Oh my god. Who wrote this? � Take a guess.� �I don�t know.� � Who have you been thinking about lately? Don�t even tell me that� thing in there.� �I don�t know who you�� she cut her self short both because of the look Nicole gave her and that she knew what she was going to say was an out and out lie. �Well then what do I do? He probably hates me now.� � No he doesn�t. I know him to well to think he would. By the way what�s up with you and that primate in there? I thought you hated him?� � Yeah, but he was being really sweet to me and I was starting to think that no one liked me. But then Tom came up to me really sweet and gentle and asked me to go out with him. So of course I said yes. � Well now you have proof that you were wrong.� � Yeah, but I gotta get rid of Tom and find a way to get David to at least talk to me.� � Yeah well, David won�t be that hard. Just give him a few days. But getting rid of Tom? That may be hard to do.� They both left the party that second and were trying to figure things out. |
