| The next day at school David tried to do his best to keep to himself. To his surprise every time he saw Jenn he never saw Tom. And a couple of times he thought she had waved and smiled at him. But he just kept walking and didn�t say a word. He still couldn�t get over what happened Saturday, but he wasn�t quite as ticked off as he was. Matt wasn�t there that day. But David was kind of glad because matt didn�t go to the party and would have wanted to know everything that happened. By track practice David had cooled down completely basically because he saw Jennifer doing anything possible to stay away from Tom. When David saw Tom he looked extremely pissed off and was looking for Jennifer. When he saw her he ran towards her and knocked her down. He started screaming at her and then slapped her. David wasn�t going to put up with seeing that. He went over grabbed Tom by the collar of his shirt and threw him back about 10 feet. He then knelt beside Jennifer. � Jenn, you ok?� he said with an extremely concerned tone in his voice. � Yeah, Thanks Davi� WATCH OUT!� She said the words just in time as David turned and took a Heavy right hook in the jaw. He was hit with enough force to knock most anyone off their feet. But yet he just sat there. Just long enough for Tom to notice and then he stood up. David advanced on Tom and grabbed him with both hands by the collar of his shirt choking Tom in the process. � Wanna try that when my back isn�t turned?� then he dropped Tom and stepped back a few feet. Tom advanced fist raised. David simply spun to the side easily avoiding it and kicking Tom in the back at the same instant. He waited for Tom to get up and turn around then delivered a strong standing side kick right to Tom�s lower jaw and sent him back about 5 feet or so. Everyone saw Tom then looked at David with both shock and amazement. It took Tom awhile to recover from the kick and when he did he struggled to get up and barely muttered. � You�ll pay, I swear to god you�ll pay David.� Before he fell again and was dragged off by hid friends. David went back to where Jennifer was lying still hurt. � You all right?� he said again to make sure she wasn�t hurt badly. � Yeah, thanks for what you did. I owe you.� � No you don�t owe me a thing.� � Yeah I do�, she said bringing her face closer to David�s. �I owe you this.� Then she kissed him. David was so shocked that he didn�t even notice all the yelling and screaming everyone around them were doing. He didn�t care, for the first time in his life he was truly and utterly happy. His face was plastered with a surprised smile and I don�t think anyone could have gotten him to stop smiling if they tried. He walked Jennifer to her ride when it came, said goodbye, then sat on the curb out side the track waiting for his ride. He couldn�t stop thinking about what had just happened. He couldn�t believe it. He now thought that he was the luckiest guy in the world. And nothing was gonna stop him from thinking that. Or so he thought� The next day at school was a happy one for David. And I don�t see why it wouldn�t. David had nothing to really worry about; he had Jennifer by his side, he had the project done, everything was going his way. He was also applauded and supported by almost everyone he saw. He swore that if he heard � good job� or � way to go David,� one more time he�d puke. But he still appreciated it all the same. Though David seemed happy, and for the most part he was, he was still worried about something. He knew that Tommy wouldn�t let him go unpunished. Tommy would find a way to get his vengeance. But the question was when? And where? David went to gym class kind of looking over his shoulder every once and a while to check and see if he was being followed. He wasn�t paying attention to what was in front of him now because he was so worried. And he ran into the door. He went into the locker room and changed for gym. But when he was ready he started to think. Maybe Tommy wouldn�t go after him. Maybe he�d be after Jennifer instead. This worried him even more. He looked at the clock. He was gonna be late but David knew that Mr. Savage wouldn�t care that much. He got up to leave for the aux. Gym and was stopped by an arm thrust aggressively in front of him. �Where ya going Davie boy?� �What do you want?� � What do you think, genius?� as he said this his 2 bigger brothers who were both about David�s size step in behind him. � I want to get you back for what you did yesterday. And, this time I got help.� � Yeah a pussy like you would need his 2 bigger brothers to help him.� At this one of Tommy�s goons jumped David. But he dodged and threw him into the lockers. The other came at David and went for a couple of left and right hooks. But David was smart enough to dodge them then land a few of his own. He finished him off with a knee to the stomach and a swift kick to the face. Then he went after Tommy. Tommy of course kept going back but then saw something David didn�t. Then Tommy charged David. David punched him in the face then heard something behind him. He turned and took a knife thrust right in the ribs. He Fell to the ground with his hand to the wound and took his hand away. He was bleeding. Bleeding rather badly. At that second Tommy got his other brother back up and all 3 of them started stomping on David. He was helpless. He couldn�t move. So they continued to stomp him and stomp him. Tommy had an insane smile on his face and David recognized that look. It was the same one he had seen in the dream� After a few minutes they left. Shouting a few warnings at David, though David didn�t pay attention. He tried as hard as he could to roll on his stomach. It took all that he had to do that, but he knew he had to get out of there somehow. So he waited a minute and got up on his knees and his elbows. He tried to crawl to the door. He got half way through it and his legs gave out. He had to drag himself across the floor a few feet, which seemed like miles to him. After a 3 hard suffering minutes he got to where he had a support. He had used the folded up basketball stands to get himself up and support him. He finally was able to walk and after about five feet he was in view of everyone. He fell again. � Oh my god. Someone help. HELP!� it was matt. Everyone else was to stunned to speak. David heard this, and then he blacked out. Nothing, there was nothing but this dark, forbidding feeling about him. David had the feeling he was moving. Then he opened his eyes and saw nothing but dark. He felt around, no one was there. He felt the spot where his wound had been, nothing. He knew then that he must be dreaming or� was he? He saw a glimmer of light ahead of him and felt himself suddenly float towards it. Things became a little clearer because he could see somewhat. He was right no one was any where around him. He still floated slowly toward the light. As it got closer he could make out shapes. He hoped it might be people, but then again maybe he didn�t. But when he got there he didn�t find any people. What David found was like a room filled with hundreds of these little glowing crystal globes. All of which were rotating in different directions, but all around one large globe in the center. He stopped to try and look inside one but it was too fast. So almost on instinct he stopped one and picked it up. He looked deep inside it. There was nothing he wanted to throw it against the wall, but then something popped up. He looked and knew exactly what it was it was the party. It was everything he remembered from the party. David wondered what this room was and then another globe popped up. He picked it up to see what it had in it. It was a picture of the room he was now in. David didn�t know what to think at that moment. And then he knew what these globes where. They were his thoughts at that moment. Each one represented a memory or thought that was in his head at the second. To test this theory he walked, more like he floated, over to several globes. And his theory was proved right for the second. Interested as he was David wondered what the middle and globe held. He knew it had to be the one thing that he was thinking about, the one thing that made him forget everything else. But he didn�t know what that could be. He walked up to it and saw the fog inside start to shift and form a picture, but before it was clear enough to see what it was David had already figured it out. And he was right. The one person he thought about most, that could make him forget about everything bad that�s happened, that made him smile. Was Jennifer. And he was right, for that�s exactly what the globe showed him. Every single memory of her he had. He was smiling and crying at the same time. But then he saw one that he didn�t remember ever happening. He saw her sitting beside a hospital bed. Her head was resting on her hands and she was crying. Then she said something that made David speechless. � David. Please don�t die, not now. I don�t want you to die. I need you.� She paused and grabbed David�s hand, and David felt something grab his hand at the same time. He knew that what he was seeing wasn�t a memory, it was really happening right then. � David I want to tell you something. I�ve been thinking long and hard, and I know now, that I love you. No one has ever done for me what you�ve done. And I want to tell you�that� I love you.� David couldn�t believe it. He suddenly felt himself being lifted up and into the globe. David woke up and slowly opened his eyes. He saw Jennifer by his side crying. He tried to get up and she lifted her head. He put a finger to her mouth to stop her talking and they both suddenly had an understanding. Their eyes meet and they both knew, she knew that he had heard and he knew that she was telling the truth. From that moment on they never split. You could never see one with out the other. And they both loved it that way. They lived happily together for years and years. But, know what your thinking. What did David do to Tommy after wards, did he get revenge? Or something else? Was he thankful to him because of what had happened at the hospital? Well, we�ll leave that for another story. |
