Her family moved from Greene County to Morgan County around 1926, to the Brownwood Community, in a house (now moved) on Brownwood road next to Brobston Memorial school. She attended school there at about age 6 to 7 (1927-1928) and again at age 10 in 1931. Between 1928 and 1931 the family lived in the Nolan's Store community. After 1931 they lived near Fair Play where she walked to the school in Rutledge, attending until the 7th grade, when she withdrew to help out at home. 3 When she married in 1938, Ivor stayed home for about a week and a half until her new husband could find them a place to live. She didn't tell her family she was married until nearly the last day. She said none of them objected or seem surprised, so they may have already known about it. On 1 October 2006 Ivor moved from her home of 45 years at 4360 Glenwood Parkway, Decatur, GA to a duplex at 734 S. Cherokee Road, Social Circle, GA. She moved because the old neighborhood had become dangerous, and to be closer to family. Because of her failing memory, she was unable to adjust to her new home, and on 12 October 2006 she was admitted to the Emory Eastside Heritage Center in Snellville, GA for observation and evaluation. It was determined that she had Alzheimer's and could not return to independent living in her own home. On 24 October 2006 she was admitted into an assisted living facility, The Mews, 621 N. Cherokee Rd., Social Circle, GA. On 3 April 2007 she fell and broke her hip. She had surgery on 6 April, and on 10 April 2007 was placed in the Social Circle Nursing and Rehab Center, 671 N. Cherokee Rd., Social Circle, GA. Because of her advanced Alzheimer's Disease, she was unable to learn how to walk. In mid-January 2008 she was diagnosed with glaucoma in her left eye, and was found to have lost sight in that eye. By that time, although she could talk, little of her conversation pertained to reality or to the events around her; she was unable to process new information and retain it for more than a few seconds. In her later years her favorite television show had been the 1990s situation comedy, "That '70s Show," but by 2008 she no longer reacted to it, or to anything on television. When her son Don died on 18 Feb. 2008, she was not told. 4 On 6 May 2009 she slept through my entire visit. Then on the 7th, she did the same, but as I was leaving I found that I couldn't wake her. She stopped eating and taking fluids. She continued to decline and on Sunday morning, in my presence on Mother's Day, she died. She was cremated, and I scattered her ashes in the Greensboro, GA City Cemetery, in a small wooded area adjacent the place where her parents are buried. On 19 June 2009 I placed a memorial marker for her next to her parents' headstone, in the Greensboro City Cemetery.
