What's new on the Watch List this week?

Starting on June 1st, 2001 it will only 11 months until they run for the roses in the 2002 Kentucky Derby. One month off, then it is time to start watching for the cream of the 1999 Thoroughbred foal crop to start rising to the top.

I plan to add at least one more potential runner every week at a minimum. The last few years have evolved away from the Derby trend of one of the top two year olds winning the roses. Basically any male wining in top Maiden Special Weight company this year, and early next year are possible Kentucky Derby starters. So, I will be adding horses, horses, horses for the next 10 months.

I will be ranking them based off of about 50 Kentucky Derby "trend" factors. Most of these trends are moot now, but as the weeks go by the trends will accumulate pointing to the Kentucky Derby 2002 field, and hopefully the winner and other top finishers bubbling to the top of the Watch List.
