How do I convert ".sit" files posted by Mac users in ABSSM and burn to a CD on a PC?

Question:
I was hoping to get Chesta's AO upgrade post, but I'm using a PC and Forte Agent doesn't seem to want to save these files to the hard drive like it normally does with a RAR file. Even if I can get over that hurdle, what is binhex, and how do I convert the files to a format the PC and Nero will recognize so I can burn the image? Any suggestions? Many thanks!

Answer:
Binhex is to Mac as UU is to PC.... you can either find an app to decode the binhex on PC... I think "Stuffit expander" can decode binhex...but here's info from another pc user...hope it helps...once you get all segments drag segment AOU_CD1.sit.1 on Stuffit to join all files then drag AOU_CD1.sit on Stuffit to get the toast image named... (i.e.) advOrchestraUpgradecd1... then drag this puppy on Nero 5.5.5.1 and burn at defaults real slow... and save this txt for future reference...

For a PC:

1.) Download the free Stuffit Expander from (http://www.stuffit.com/) or find a crack or keygen for the full program.

2) Save all mellotron?image.sit.* segments individually (only the bodies not the headers). In forte' Agent do the following: FILE -> Save Message As (check Bodies Only) There are 39 files mellotron?image.sit.1 through mellotron?image.sit.39. They are BinHex 4.0 encoded.

3) Drag all 39 files in Stuffit expander to decode. You then get 39 decoded image file segments. (Notice the have a different name mellotron?image.sit.* and mellotron?image.sit.*) The mellotron?image.sit.1 through mellotron?image.sit.39 are now decoded and ready to be joined.

4) Drag mellotron?image.sit.1 into Stuffit Expander and the program automatically joins the segments and the expands the image file. This process creates a joined 300plus MB Stuffit compressed file and a 500plus MB expanded image file.

5) Open Nero (I used 5.5.5.1) Use the Menu. File -> Burn Image (choose All files *.* for file type) -> load the Image file. Use the Nero defaults and then burn your CD.

(Note from Doc Piano :)
(For best results, you should use the slowest speed possible on your burner. I know it takes longer, but experience shows you'll have a much better chance of success when importing foreign images.)

It's a long process but it worked for me on both mellotron?image and NWOJ?image

Good luck.
