There is a second Burchard Tiedeken in Friesoythe of about the same age. This other Burchard and his wife Rachel Heinrichs have children born between 1698 and 1720. However, I believe our Burchardus is this one born to Joannis in 1675. The supporting evidence I have for this conclusion comes from a list of children confirmed in Friesoythe in 1717. This serves as sort of a parish census because it lists the surname of the head of household, and names and ages of the children, but not always the first name of the father, annoyingly enough. However, it is possible to figure out which family is which by matching the children's names and ages to the children found in the birth/baptism records where the parents are named. Burchardus ``Borchert'' and Thalia ``Tecla'' had two daughters by 1717. His parents, Joannis and Anna Margareta had a son Johannes born in December, 1693. This younger Johannes is listed with the family of Burchardus and Thalia in the 1717 census. The other Burchard and his wife Rachel are listed separately with their children.
