Hogzilla

FYI, this is not a prank or joke, just something I found very interesting, that yes, actually happened.

The legendary Hogzilla of Georgia, a myth of an emormous pig that lived underground, supposedly only surfacing to scare the crap out of anyone who was nearby, has been shot.
The small town in Georgia where it was spotted fully embraced the legend, even having a fall festival themed with "Hogzilla" including dances in pig outfits, a pig princess, and a replica of the legend.
In June 2004, a worker on a fish farm/hunting preserve, Chris Griffin, shot it and buried it.
Later it was dug up again for an investigation by interested scientists and some people from National Geographic.  It was after it was unearthed, and had decomposed a bit, that the picture on the right was taken.

Above, Chris Griffin stands beside the corpse of the half-ton hog he shot.
Below, a replica of Hogzilla stands before the corpse of a "victim" in the Hogzilla parade float.
Mr. Griffin reported it measuring 12 ft. at the time, but scientists measured the corpse and estimate it was 7.5 to 8 feet when it was alive, (which is still pretty freaking huge).  It's two tusks measured at 18 inches and 16 inches.
