As I came out of the coma the pain started but remember something
from my work out days"relax in to pain" just like in my Bikes riding
could not talk or walk. My right arm and right leg were paralyzed and my
left leg was atrophied in a straight position. Later I was transferred to
Emory University's Rehab Center and one night the Atlanta Humane
Society brought in numerous puppies for the patients on Pet Night. One
of those puppies licked my face and I smiled. My parents say it was the
first time they knew that I was still in there. The next day they went to the
Humane Humane Society and adopted that puppy, Auggie,14 yr.s
old he died on 11/11/06. At the time I could not situp straight or hold up
my head. I was on a feeding tube and I was unableto swallow. After
three months at the Emory Rehab Center with little to noprogress, I
was moved to a private head injury hospital. The place was just
aholding place for me.I now had the time to figure out that no one had
any idea about how to fix me.

One of the male nurses told me I would never be able to run the
Peachtree Road Race again, but I did the Peachtree in a wheelchair
(ha, ha, ha) with my Mom, Aunt Sara, and Uncle Bob Barker
pushing. I liked the female nurses better becausethey seemed more
caring (of course). A good thing started to happen. I was able to go
home on weekends. In about three months time, I went home for good.
