In 1973, My father received orders for Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, Alaska. During our time in Alaska, I played many sports: Basketball, Football and especially Baseball. In 1976, my Baseball team the Elmendorf AFB Martins were undefeated and base champs. I was a Pitcher and played Shortstop. I was 7-0 and batted over .600. Click on the Sourdough Sentinel link below to read about some of my acomplishments. In 1977, my Basketball team the Elmendorf AFB Jets were 13-2 and Jr. Division Champs. Alaska was extremely beautiful and my first experience at delivering newspapers. I delivered the Anchorage Daily Times at Fort Richardson, which was located next to Elmendorf AFB. I attended Aurora Elementary School and Orion Middle School for Grades 3-6.
In Alaska we got another dog. Our next dog Eureka pictured below was gotten because Lizzie was getting old. But Lizzie hung around for several more years. Eureka lived up to her name. She ate anything in site.
