The Rotaract Club of De La Salle University has been serving its constituents and community as early as the 1970's.
However,
as some Rotaract Clubs do, its existence started to wane. It was eventually dissolved in 1990.
Then in 1998, the Rotaract Club of De La Salle University was brought back to a life of service once again by a group of
La Sallians headed by Charter President Angelito "Ari" Rivera. The Rotary Club of Manila, seeingthe need
for a Rotaract club in De La Salle University, graciously sponsored this new Rotaract Club. It seemed that the La Sallians
recognized and appreciated the purpose of the newly chartered Rotaract Club. More than a hundred students joined the club
at once in its first year of service, trying to live the life of a Rotaractor.
From then on, the club has beendoing projects that benefit both its members and the community. It is continually planning
and involving itself in high-impact projects and comes up with new ideas to facilitate better activities. The club is active
in both within and outside the La Sallian community. Its excellence did not go unnoticed as it gathered several awards from
both the university and the district.
In the year 2002-2003, it was awarded as the Best Socio-Civic organization in DLSU by the Harvest of Winners (HOW),
an award giving body. Just recently, it won the award for the best Rotaract Club (School Based) and the best Community
Service (School Based) given by the district in the recent awards ceremonies. These are just some of the achievements that
the club has attained in its first few years of operation.
Through the years, several problems were encountered but none of them has succeeded in stopping this club from growing
and getting better every year. Just last schoolyear 2004-2005, the Rotaract Club of De La Salle University under the leadership
of Ms. Goldilyn Uy (CSO chairman for SY 05-06), was ranked by the Council of Student Organization as BEST SOCIO CIVIC ORG with the highest accredition among the thirty three orgs of De La Salle University Manila. Not only that, Rotaract Club also won
awards for the BEST SOCIO CIVIC ACTIVITY, BEST TREASURER by Ms. Marie Arriane Uy(2005-2006 President) and
BEST ORG OFFICER by Ms. Katherine Yu (2005-2006 EVP).
With each obstacle came its success, and it looks forward for more growth and development for ultimately it desires to be a club that
truly resonates Service Above Self.
