Indoor Venues

The Elbow Room
My good friends, Neutronic Sod, have made this venue a regular stop during their musical career. I have followed along that path, seeing all but one gig of theirs held there so far. A fun room with a great upstairs lounge, bar b and stage b. Had a great night there with a whole mix of friends including the Sod Blowout Crew as well as NYC friends and the AB&G Crew.

The Wetlands
I have been to this venue more times than I care to remember. I've seen The Other Half, The Dude of Life, The Spitfire Tour with Perry Farrell, Ulu a few times, The New Deal, Fat Bag a few times, moe., Grasshopper, Zen Tricksters, Tiberius, Fat Mama, and a whole bunch more over the past 9 years or so. Affectionately known as sweatlands, this place is a cultural center for tree huggers and vegetarians. The Rainbow Family gathers here often and plays drums in the downstairs lounge. Recently met the new owner who seems to be a great guy. Hey Jake.

Knickerbocker Arena
There is a venue in Albany, currently the Pepsi Arena, that gets rocked, along with the town itself, each and every rainy weekend in November or December. It always rains up there for the shows. Well, for the past 3 years or so I've been going up there and staying at the Omni Hotel, now called the Crowne Point something or other. 2 Funny stories. 2 years ago, Pat went out party hopping after a show. I went to sleep. Well, he had a key but ended up sleeping right outside the hotel room. At 4 in the morning, the security guards found him, woke him up and tried to kick him out. To their surprise, Pat has a key and walks on in. Then there was in 1999 when the hotel was having the National DEA conference. You cannot make this stuff up!

Glens Falls Civic Center
Not enough room to write about this place. For starters, Pat and I broke into this place in 1993 for the recreation of the White Album by Phish that, again, rainy night in upstate on Halloween. We literally climbed a tree to hop over the barbed wire fence, climbed up the ladder to a small ledge. Walked the ledge to the front of the building then climbed an angled ladder to the roof. We weren't the first on the roof and by the time we figured where we were, more had joined us. We stood around the air vents, huge metal square encasings and all grabbed and lifted. Sure enough, a circular staircase led to a platform above the fans. I climbed down first then some other guy then Pat. Me and the other guy made it. Pat didn't and sadly I had the keys. It was a 4+ hour long show.
