OBEDIENCE SCHOOL
We found a young Dalmatian
Beneath our Christmas tree.
Here at the fire station,
The cutest dog you’d ever seen.
Gus was our spotted angel,
Until we left him home alone.
We came back to hoses tangled,
And some wires once a phone.
Our Chief said, “If you want to keep Gus,
There’s gonna be some rules.
You put him on the next bus,
And send him to obedience school!”
He stayed clear from the open door,
When at the school that bus did stop.
He kept on riding to the grocery store …
That dog was smarter than we thought!
He walked right past the Cracker Jacks,
And the dog food made for pups.
He went straight for the candy rack,
To get some chocolate peanut cups.
We stood in horror speechless,
As he prepared to make his dive.
Oh, what an awful soggy mess
He made on aisle five.
We tried in vain to catch Gus,
But couldn’t pen him in.
And as he flew right past us,
We thought we saw him grin.
He bolted through the checkout line,
And out the door he went.
He never saw the warning sign,
And now he’s stuck in wet cement.
I woke up from my dream to find
That naughty dog was me.
And leaving 99 behind,
He came to set me free.
He’ll keep on finding more and more,
Because His work is never done.
Now He’s out there searching for
Dalmatian 101.

Matthew 18:12 “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? [13] And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. [14] In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.”
