Disney Tips and Tricks
Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland

1.  Restrooms - Detailing is important to Disney.  Make sure and notice the restroom signs in Tomorrowland.  The sure look space age!

2.  Mailbox - Even the mailbox in Tomorrowland is not left out.  Guests are cautioned by the notice on the box that there are "NO INTERPLANTERY DELIVERIES."

3.  Space Mountain - In the line area, is that large meteor flying over your head in reality a photo of a chocolate chip cookie? Some people may try to convince you that it is, but alas, it's not true! (It makes a delicious story, however).

4.  Space Mountain - Look for references to FX-1 on the star chart in the queue, the giant ship on the final up ramp at the start of the ride, and on the control booth.  This is a reference to Federal Express, the former sponsor of the ride.

5.  Space Mountain - The first sponsor of the ride was RCA music company.  The opening date of the ride, January 1975, is seen on the backs of the spacesuits worn by the astronauts on the first up ramp of the ride.  A diorama at the exit of the ride contains a mechanical version of RCA's mascot dog.

6.  Space Mountain - As you move up the exit ramp, look carefully at the rocks in the second scene to see an occasional shadow of Winnie the Pooh (a Hidden Winnie!).

7.  Talking Trash Cans - Go to Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, to the big dining area where thet lounge lizard Sonny Eclipse (himself an oft-overlooked attraction!) performs his "live" act.  On the left-hand wall, as you enter the room from the service counters, are some trash cans.  Just deposit a little trash and listen!  (If you're not sure you have the right cans, look for the little electrical wires leading into them -- that's the giveaway!)

8.  PUSH - The chatty receptacles mentioned above are not to be confused with PUSH, the walking, talking trash can who delights unsuspecting guests several times a day while roaming the sidewalks of Tomorrowland.  He is frequently just outside Cosmic Ray's. Ask a Cast Member when and where PUSH will be making his appearance.

9.  Transit Authority - A great way to get an overview of Tomorrowland is to take a trip on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.  Formerly known as the WEDWay People Mover, this smooth 10-minute ride not only offers a bird's-eye view of the futuristic landscape, it lets you peer into the interior of some of the land's most popular attractions, like Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Space Mountain.  It's easy to pass by the slow-moving escalator that takes you up to the trains, but it's a peaceful way to spend a few minutes waiting for a FastPass window to open.

10.  Transit Authority - Be sure to listen for the humorous announcements made throughout the trip.  One such an announcement is a page that goes as follows, "Tom Morrow, paging Tom Morrow!  Your party from Saturn has arrived.  Please give them a ring."   Tom Morrow was the Director of Operations in Mission  Control for the old Flight to the Moon attraction.  He was replaced by Mr. Johnson when the ride became Mission Mars.  You can also hear a page for Mr. Johnson!

11.  Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin - Check out the batteries throughout the ride.   They say, "Made in Glendale."  This is in reference to the home of Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California!
