| MGM - Page 1 of 2 1. New York Street - There is an umbrella bolted to a lightpost. If you put one foot up on the post and grab the handle, rain falls and you can recreate a scene from "Singing in the Rain". The lightpost is normally located at the very end of New York Street, adjacent to Herbie and facing the turnaround for the backlot tour and the Lights Motors Action! entrance. 2. MuppetVision 3D - At the entrance to MuppetVision 3D, just as you enter the building, look for the "Security Office" on the right hand side. There, you will see a sign that says, "Back in 5 Minutes: Key Under Mat". If you look down at the mat you're standing on, you can lift it and actually find a key embedded in the carpet!! 3. Muppet Vision 3D - Molding and ducts in the exterior queue area of Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney-MGM Studios become the targets of some good-natured vandalism. Gonzo the Great is immortalized by means of some selectively placed chalk and blue paint. Very little in the surroundings escapes "Muppet-ization," as demonstrated by these pipes and conduits. 4. Muppet Vision 3D - Look on top of the exterior wall to your right as you approach Muppet Vision from the Star Wars attraction. Along the top of the wall are planters with flowers in them. Take a look at the first one after the second NY Street entrance, it is not a flower but an ice cream sundae! The last planter is a melted ice cream sundae! 5. Muppet Vision 3D - Longtime Muppet Link Hogthrob is pictured as a guard on a warning sign, identifying his affiliation with the Pork Security Company. One particularly funny gag is the sign on a utility door that reads "THIS DOOR IS ALARMED - AND GENUINELY CONCERNED!" 6. Muppet Vision 3D - While waiting for the show look for the fisherman's net hanging from the ceiling. The net contains Jello. It is a play on words. Get it? Hint: One of the original Mouseketeers! Also, look for the crate labeled "2-D Fruities" (i.e. tuttie frutties). The projector in the theatre is labeled "Yell & Howell". This is a play on words (yell and howl) and a reference to a major projector manufacturer (Bell & Howell). 7. Muppet Vision 3D - The sheet music in front of the penguin orchestra is to the song "Rainbow Connection", the theme song from the first Muppet Movie. 8. Stage One Company Store - This store is near Muppet Vision and it sells merchandise themed to Kermit and company. The interior showcases elements drawn from the Happiness Hotel, a location that featured prominently in the film The Great Muppet Caper. One cashier station is modeled after the hotel's check-in desk, and a sign nearby reads "PLEASE STEAL LINEN - IT'S CHEAPER THAN HAVING IT CLEANED." Another communicates the benefits of securing valuables in the house safe. The sign reads, "GUESTS WITH VALUABLES ARE INVITED TO STORE THEM IN THE HOUSE SAFE. SIMPLY LOOK BEHIND THE CHECK IN DESK. A LARGE HOLE IN THE BACK OF THE SAFE WILL ENABLE YOU TO WITHDRAW AND REPLACE YOUR VALUABLES AT ANY TIME." Assorted laundry is strung across the "lobby" area; a careful inspection will reveal Mickey Mouse's shorts among the items. 9. Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playset - Little kids will love the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area. When you climb the stairs between the Super Soaker and the slide coming out of a roll of film, at the top of the stairs you'll find a giant-sized dog nose. When you put your hand in front of the nostrils, the dog sniffs! Be careful -- you may even get wet! Ewwww! 10. Indiana Jones Stunt Show - Outside of the show there is a well. There is a sign that reads, "Do Not Pull Rope." When you pull the rope you will hear a voice at the bottom screaming. 11. Indiana Jones Stunt Show - Near the entrance there are some crates hidden in the bushes which are marked 'Don't Open' (of course you should go ahead & open them!). 12. Min & Bill's Dockside Diner - Speaking of crates, be sure to notice the crates piled up just outside of Min & Bill's Dockside Diner. You'll find boxes addressed to Rick's American Cafe in Casablanca, as well as a bicycle being shipped to Miss Dorothy Gale in Kansas and a shipment from the Rosebud Sled Co. |
