What is disc golf? | Where can I get discs? | What discs should I get?

UPDATED 7.22.09:

Lots of FOD news to get to, sorry for the delay...

NEW WEBSITE: First off, this will probably be the last update on this site. The address will remain the same (www.fodcourse.com), but we will be moving to sleeker new page design that will allow for more updates. Stay tuned, it's in the works.

LEAGUE NIGHT: As some of you probably already know, there is league night every Thursday at 5:30 tee off (5:15 warmup) @ FOD. Players of all skill levels are welcome to come meet up and randomly pair up to play different formats from week to week. There is a dollar entry fee that goes toward the ace pot (currently up to $40). Come on out. (BTW: Current doubles record is -12, set by Rico and Ari.)

REVIEWS: Check us out at DGCourseReview.com if you haven't already--some pretty good write-ups on the course available there.

VIRTUAL TOUR: The long-awaited "virtual tour" is taking shape in the form of some pretty awesome videos shot by Rico. The clips will get to feature some of our regular players as well as show off the course. Check out a couple..

Check back soon to see the new site and the completed video tour as well as a bunch of other sweet features so cool we don't even know what they are yet!

UPDATED 4.29.09:

The 18-hole course is now fully complete and already getting a lot of play. And the good reviews are already coming in. Here's one with hole-by-hole video of the course from Cubby's Disc Golf World:
"Headed up to the Field of Dreams Disc Golf Course in Great meadows , NJ. It was a 2 hour drive to the course but well worth it. It was a hot day getting to 90 degrees. The last time I played this course it was a 9 hole course, it is now an 18 hole course. The layout is great and there is a nice mix of wooded and open holes, short and long. This course has something for everyone. My hats off to all those involved for all the hardwork that went into this course."

UPDATED 12.30.08:

Happy Holidays from everyone at THE FOD... The GALLERY and ABOUT pages have been updated with new pictures and more detailed information. Hopefully the weather will allow for many workdays on the second nine this winter. It's coming along great.

UPDATED 12.17.08:

We are now accepting sponsors for the tee signs on the second nine. Hurry up and get your company's logo on the course, or just make a donation to help out with construction costs. Download the FOD sponsor form PDF here. Thanks for your support.

UPDATED 11.21.08:

Here is the aerial layout for the new and improved 18-hole version of the course (under construction right now!). Rico says, "The new layout is going to have a little something for everyone: including that monster open par 5 that a lot of people love (not my favorite, but it helps balance the course): it will be 750 ft from the whites and 1,000 ft from the deeps. The course will play roughly 1/3 open and 2/3 woods....which I think is ideal." Stay tuned for more details.

UPDATED 10.4.08: BIG UPDATE

We'd like to thank everyone who came out to the opening two weeks ago. There were a lot of young players who should be disc golfers for life. It was a big success. Here's a shot of the ribbon cutting...

We'd like to share some of the internet reactions that the course has been getting. Check out these online reviews...

-Cubby's Disc Golf World
-DGCourseReview.com

Here's a great "letter to the editor" from one of the opening day participants (Click to enlarge):

And here's a link to a hackettstownlife.com discussion board post about the course. People are truly loving them some FOD. If you haven't played it yet, you really need to make it out (and feel free to send us an email with any suggestions for improvement--there's a contact link on the left).

Also, check our our new and improved gallery section for select photos from the course. As well as two new pages for beginners... What is disc golf? and Where can I get discs?

Lastly, we are proud to announce that preliminary plans for the second nine are in development. Be sure to check this site for updates and photos as the FOD transitions into an 18-hole course. Thanks for visiting, hope to see you out there!
