What I miss
about South Africa ***************

The Journey, from 3rd Sep - 2nd Oct 99
Despite being out of Africa for a year, the fond memories of the African experience still linger. The adventures we "birdies" had shared during the trip are just too much to forget hence leading to the creation of this webpage. While it refreshes our memories of this great African journey, it is also meant for sharing with anyone who has fallen in love with Africa.

The trip was an extraordinary African’s adventure, led by the theme of “adventures aplenty at a compact price”. With no luxurious 5-star hotels but the comfort of ‘better-than-expected’ chalets, lodges and camping tents, we had a diversified experience of African’s wildlife, landscape, history and culture –  a well mix of almost everything you would expect from the African Continent!

A journy to Africa is a journey of the soul - an ancient voice stirs deep within us,
reconnecting us to the very essence of our being,
for it was here, in Africa that our ancestors became man.

Our Trails in South Africa

"Birdies" in South Africa
- Not sure when we started associating ourselves with this name? I supposed it all started with treking the 'guinea fowl's route' and … our eating habit – ‘Snacking’ was what we were famous for. Believe it or not, we spent almost S$230 on tibits and we were crazy enough to pack 3 kg of Sambal Chilli from Singapore across the Indian Ocean! But that was something the Birdies enjoyed most during the most sleepy hours of the day in the mini-bus or after the long hours of hiking.

The Memory Lane

I am not an empire builder, I am not a missionary, I am not truly a scientist.
I merely want to return to Africa and continue my wanderings.

- Joseph Thomson
