The service is available to country residents over 65 years of age who are experiencing day to day problems because of mental illness or related problems. The service offers information and advice to country residents and/or their carers; links country based service providers with members of a specialist multidisciplinary team for advice and assistance and resource materials on clinical management issues; provides country based general practitioners with a system of access to consultant psychiatrists; negotiates arrangements for inpatient admissions. Telemedicine consults may be arranged. A visiting consultation liaison service is available in the majority of country areas. |
