My Wanderings...
As I said earlier, it is very nice to be in a group of people sharing almost similar ideas and thoughts. I am lucky to be in such a group, here, in IISc. Even though It is very difficult to extract enough time from our work schedule to go for long trips (since, here in IISc, there is no distinct weekdays and weekends - any day is a weekday, but, for us, any day can be a holiday also!), we just get out of this place whenever a chance come. And institute is at such an ideal place that just an hours' cycling toward suburbs will take you to the beauties that one can never imagine.
Two years back, we used to have a good cycling group and we used to go for long rides. The group had many people - Luckose, Mathai, Naveen, Deepak, Barker, Joby Joseph etc. etc. At that time, ``pipeline road'' (Magadi) used to be our favorite destination. No one, except Joby, was seriously interested in any other things other than cycling during these trips (Joby used to go behind birds and butterflies on those days also). I never had the camera... But, those trips were nice and we used to enjoy them. But when all of the members (except Joby) left this place after their ME my cycle trips were also stopped.
I was very lazy to cycle anywhere after that. It started all again on a nice Sunday afternoon when Manoj came to my room (I was 'bout to sleep) and instigated the idea of a cycle trip to somewhere. I was very reluctant at first, as I saw no chances of getting any good photos (since it was about to rain), but then finally decided to go somewhere rather than just sleeping in my room. The journey started as an aimless one till we saw the sign boards to ``Nrityagram'' - there upon we decided to keep that as our destination. Even though we could not reach there on that day, it became a starting point for my second session of cycling trips after coming to IISc.
Now our cycling gang is quite a sporty one. Apart from me it includes K.N.Manoj, Joby Joseph (ECE), Luckose P.S (Sasken), Debjani Haldar (now Debjani Joby Joseph!)(BC), Renjith Mathew (MCB), Sameen (Aero), Anil S Babu, and Naji. These days trips are more organized usually is full-fledged with camera, binocs, etc. etc. Invariably Manoj will be the navigator and he is documenting the trips also. If time permits the trips will be `better' ones (by bikes or car); and on rare occasions, still longer ones, by public transports.
Some description about the places we have visited in and around Bangalore can be obtained from here (thanks to Manoj for his excellent documentation).
