Pamela couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Justin had been about to kiss that girl. How dare that little whore try to get in between her and Justin?

“I knew you were after him, you little slut!” Pamela snarled. “I knew from the first time I saw you that you were jealous of me.” Before Toria or Justin could blink Pamela launched herself at Toria her hand raised to slap the other girl.

Justin caught her hand. “Pamela, stop! I think it’s about time we had a little talk.” He turned back to Victoria, his eyes softening as they rested on her. “We’ll talk later, ok?”

Victoria nodded her head and Justin still holding Pamela’s hand pulled her out of the room.

Toria let out a deep breath. She couldn’t really blame Pamela for reacting the way she had. Toria had almost kissed Pamela’s boyfriend.

She had almost kissed Justin.

For a second the feelings of that moment overrode her feelings of guilt. Why couldn’t Pamela have walked in a couple of minutes later? The outraged thought went through Toria’s mind before she could brush it away.

But she shrugged the thought quickly away, made her way over to the stereo, and took out a new CD. She needed to clear her mind and music seemed the best way to do it.

She had been listening for a while when suddenly she heard a door slam. It had been a while since Justin had left with Pamela and she wondered how he was fairing.

Well, it hadn’t gone as badly as he thought it would have gone. Well…if you didn’t count the screaming and the door slamming in his face.

He stood in the now empty hallway and stared at the door Pamela had just slammed in his face. He wondered what was going to happen next, Pamela didn’t take rejection well and she usually fought anything that didn’t go her way.

Well there wasn’t much he could do about it now. He turned away and was about to head to the music room when Pamela’s door cracked open. Her voice called out softly to him, “Justin…please. Can we talk about this?” She opened the door wider to let him in and Justin didn’t have the heart to turn away.

He followed her inside and she closed the door behind him.

Toria groaned as sunlight shone directly in her face. Blinding light was not the best way to wake up. She lifted her her head and blinked. It took a second for her to remember where she was and what she was doing there.

Last night she had fallen asleep in the music room, listening to the Beatles and trying to ignore the fact that Justin wasn’t coming back. She really hadn’t expected him to – but she had hoped he would.

She stretched her arms and lifted herself out of the armchair she had been sleeping in. She groaned again. She had been sleeping in an awkward angle and now her neck ached.

She softly walked over to the door and cracked it open. She didn’t want to see anyone, especially not Justin before she got out of her pj’s and brushed her teeth.

A loud bang in the kitchen caused her to jerk her head around in the direction of the noise. She looked at her watch. It was nine in the morning. She didn’t wait to see who it was but made her way to the stairs and ran up them.

She opened the door to her room and was about to go in when Justin’s bedroom door opened. She glanced down the hallway and met Pamela’s gaze. Toria took in the towel Pamela was wearing and the mocking smirk on her face. She walked in to her room without saying anything to Pamela.

Toria leaned against the door and let out a soft sigh. The combo of Pamela’s cold smile and the fact that she had just come out of Justin’s room sent a cold shiver of dread down Toria’s spine. Had Pamela spent the night with Justin?

Her heart clenched in pain. From the way he had reacted to Pamela yesterday, Toria had assumed that he was going to end it with her, but apparently, she had been wrong.

She mentally berated herself. She was jumping to conclusions. Just because Pamela had exited out of his room didn’t mean anything. Maybe he had ended it last night and had given her his room to be nice. She had to find out. She had to talk to him – but not before she had a bath. She picked up her clothing from the previous night and headed to the bathroom.

It took her less than fifteen minutes to shower and change and she was about to exit the bathroom when she heard voices in the hallway. She grasped the doorknob and inched the door open slowly. She poked her head out and turned to see Justin and Pamela talking, their heads bent intimately.

He embraced her and Pamela grasped his head and kissed him. Toria jolted back and shut the door firmly. She fell back on the bathroom wall as tears formed in her eyes. There it was. There was the proof that Justin and Pamela were still together.

She closed her eyes and images pooled in her mind. She saw Justin leaning over her at the hospital. She saw him reaching his hand out to her to help her up after her tumble at the mall. She saw him smile down at her as she measured him for the video. She saw him laughing and dancing to Michael Jackson.

Fresh tears filled her eyes but she briskly wiped them away. She really didn’t have a right to be upset. Just because she had been stupid and had fallen hard for him…just because they had almost kissed, didn’t mean that he owed her anything.

She turned to the sink and turned the tap on. She couldn’t let either Pamela or Justin see her crying like this. She didn’t want either of them to know how much seeing them together hurt her. She splashed cold water on her face and patted it dry with her towel.

She hoped that her mom was ready to leave soon. One thing was certain; she wanted to get as far away from the couple as soon as possible.

“Pamela!” Justin growled as he pushed Pamela away from him, breaking off the kiss.

He had been up early having slept in the living room the night before. Pamela had taken over his bed. Again. He had been going downstairs to talk to Victoria. He knew he had to talk to her about what happened the night before and how he felt about her. But she hadn’t been in the music room so he had gone looking for her.

He had met Pamela in the hallway and she had pulled him aside to ask him if had had a change of heart. He explained to her again, why they couldn’t be together anymore. She had looked so down that he couldn’t help but give her a quick hug and that’s when she had grasped his head and kissed him.

“Justin, what’s the big deal?” Pamela whined.

“I can’t believe you’re still pulling the same shit.” Justin was furious at her. She had taken advantage of the situation. He turned his back to her and walked down the stairs. He would talk to Victoria later, when he had cooled down.

Pamela smirked as she watched Justin disappear downstairs. The damage had already been done. She had known that Victoria was in the bathroom, just as she had heard the bathroom door squeak open and shut firmly seconds later.

She looked up as the bathroom door swung open and Victoria walked out. Although there were no tears trickling down her face, Pamela could see the sadness that Victoria couldn’t hide. She almost laughed as Victoria swiftly walked to her room and shut the door.

Yes, it had worked.

Now all she had to do was wait for Justin to come to his senses. He would come back to her. She knew it.

Victoria looked outside the car window as her mother drove out of Justin’s driveway. Breakfast had been difficult. Justin had tried to talk to her but it hurt her too much even to look at him so she had ignored him.

He had been confused at her coldness, she knew that. But what else was she to do? Whatever it was they had had – whatever that connection was, it was over.

She looked back one more time as they exited the community. The only way that she would get over this hurt was to get far away from Justin. It was the only way…and that’s what she would do.
