October 12, 2000 Okay, I haven't written in a long time again, and I'm sorry. I've been working my last month at my job, and didn't have much time to work on this online diary. My last day at work is tomorrow, so I thought I'd check in one more time before I go. We are getting DSL service at home soon, so I should be able to continue this diary without too much trouble.
So, I did the bc pills for a 3 week cycle, then waited for my period to show up. I was expecting it on Friday, October 6th, which would have been cd29, or cd1if AF showed up. Well, AF showed up early, on Monday October 2, which was only cd25. This put a major crimp in my plans as I was in Framingham, MA on business. I had a flight home scheduled for Friday night, so I was going to have my u/s on either Sat or Sun, cd2 or cd3. Because AF came early, by the time I got home and had the u/s the next morning, it was cd6, which was too late to start any meds for this cycle. We decided to go ahead and still TTC this cycle, and will be doing an IUI to try to maximize the cycle. I'm currently doing OPK's and waiting for my LH surge so that I can schedule the IUI for the next day.
Speaking of OPK's, I have a story to tell you. I have been testing daily at 3:00pm, give or take 15 minutes. I chose that time becasue although it is during work, which can be interesting, it is easier for me to guarantee that I could do it consistently. In the mornings I might wake up at different times, and in the evenings, I never know how late I'll stay at work, and how bad the commute will be. Anyway, I've been using First Response brand OPKs, and on Monday and Tuesday they were clearly negative. Wednesday I used Answer brand instead, and it looked positive. I started to get excited about scheduling the IUI, when I realised that since I had switched brands, it was like comparing apples to oranges. I had another FIrst Response in my purse, so I retested. The First Response was still negative, althought the test line was darker than the two previous days, it was still not clearly positive. The moral of this story? Don't switch OPK brands in the middle of your testing phase. This can be a bummer, if you have a few OPKs left over from other cycles, especially if you use different brands. The other moral of the story is this: Find a brand of OPK that you like, and stick with it. Then you can use all your left over tests without worrying about the results! |
