the New Planet
plot
While Dart and his crew are returning to Earth in deep freeze, robot
control on Galasphere 347 malfunctions and it is thrown off course.
The freezer unit is also faulty, and cannot be deactivated by zirgon rays.
Professor Zeffer discovers a comet which is heading straight for the Galasphere.
The comet, however, is on an erratic course and causes the Galasphere little
damage. The crew awakens to discover a new planet beyond Pluto.
Dart and his crew land on the Planet to investigate and find that it is
populated by a race of giants. One of the giants captures the Galasphere
and takes it and its crew to his home to keep as pets. Husky burns
away the lid of the wooden box in which they are being held and the Galasphere
escapes back to Earth.
notes
Galasphere 347 is not the first UGO ship to land on the new planet;
a Galasphere landed there twenty years before and its crew taught the giants how
to speak English.
Raeburn tells Marla that all they can do is keep their fingers crossed
and hope that the comet does not collide with Galasphere 347. She
replies that Venusians cross their wrists instead; it means the same thing.
