the Planet of Light

plot
Telepathic beings from the planet Lumen in the star system of Sirius come on board Galasphere 347 and invite its crew to visit their planet.  Dart and Slim travel in the Luminar’s spaceship to Lumen.  Shortly after arriving there, Dart damages his air supply, loosing a considerable amount of oxygen.  One of the Luminars shows them to the “cave of death”, where “blister plants” provide the two Space Patrolmen with oxygen to refill Dart’s near-empty supply tanks.  Dart and Slim make their way back to the Galasphere with a cat given to them by the Luminar as a gift, and some blister plant seeds. Oxygen, however, is lethal to Luminars and the cat dies on the trip back to Earth.

This is the first time Dart and his crew are seen to make contact with aliens from another star system.
