the Planet of Thought
plot
The Neptunian leader Tyro has agreed to join the UGO. After Colonel
Raeburn has shown him around Space Headquarters, he prepares to return
to Neptune. Before he does so, however, he uses his hypnotic powers
to “persuade” Marla to go with him. Professor Haggerty invents a
brain shield which prevents the Neptunians from hypnotizing or reading
the thoughts of whoever wears it. Raeburn sends Dart to Neptune to
rescue Marla but, still under the influence of Tyro, she will not allow
him to place the second shield around her head. He returns to the
Galasphere, where Husky is able to disguise the two main components of
the shield as earrings. Dart tells Tyro that he is convinced that
Marla will never return to Earth but asks if he can give her the earrings
as farewell gifts. Tyro agrees and when Marla is freed from his hypnotic
influence, he has no choice but to release her.
notes
The Neptunians make their third appearance in this episode. They had
previously featured in the
Cloud of Death and the
Slaves of Neptune.
Before they joined the UGO, Mars knew nothing about science and Venus knew
nothing about mechanics.
