Finding used stuff.
There are actually a few of places to pick up used crap, so to speak. Taiwanese people like the Japanese like shiny new stuff. A big part of the "face" thing is money, and that usually appears by people wanting to have "new stuff" to show off. Well the good side of that is that you can get good deals on second hand TV's, microwaves, mobile phones and just about anything else you can think of. Here are a small list of locations and stores you can pick up used stuff.

Furniture: Well I'm sorry to say that it's difficult to find used furniture. Chinese poeple have a thing about used furniture and don't buy it. The bulletin board at Bagel Bagel and the Box Store usually have some "for sale" postings but other than that your SOL. Bagel Bagel is on Linsen just below Wufu.
Washing machine, microwave etc: Sandou Rd around Minchuan has a lot of shops selling stuff like this, throw in a couple of extra hundred and they'll deliver.
Cd's: X records is a used cd shop on Jungshan 1st Rd on the east side of the circle.
Clothing: Some shops sell used jeans and some other clothing but in general it's the same story as furniture. A few people say there is a used clothing shop on Lijr off of Jiangung. There's a KFC on the corner of Lijr and Jiangung so you can't miss it.
Other general crap: The best place for odds and ends like pots and pans, fishing gear, mobile phones, tea pots and even a joy stick from a World War II airplane would be the flea market on Shrchiuan. It's towards the end by the river. It's better to go in the midday or afternoon on Saturday or Sunday.
