BACK TO DI'S HOMEPAGE

What do I mean when I say I am "Hebrew"??

When I tell people I am a Messianic believer, most people don't know what I mean--so that is what this page is all about. In a nutshell, it means that I believe that Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth) is my salvation, and the fulfillment of the first covenent (old testament) prophecies. Because of this, I am an heir to the promises (and blessings) of the First Covenent (old Testament).

Hebrews 11 talks about being "grafted in" to Israel

How does this look in my life? What do I do differently?

-I Embrace the Torah, old and new testaments

-I observe the Shabbat on Saturday -- This is one of the ten commandments, and therefore a clear cut issue. I don't work on Shabbat, and always focus on resting and worshipping.
Romans 14:5-6 One man regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Let each man be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.
Shabbat has from the beginning of the commands been the seventh day, until Constantine (who in 321 A.D. changed this to honor the sun)

-I eat a Biblically (not rabinically) kosher diet -- Many have asked if I keep seperate utensils and all that--no, I don't see that as a command from the Bible. The Bible simply tells me which foods are clean to eat, and those are the things I eat...

-I observe the holidays of the Torah -- Paul warned against observing "days, and months, and times, and years" (Gal. 4: 10) other than those ordained by God. There were religious events unauthorized by God. The scriptures say nothing of Christmas and Easter. They are post-apostolic; hence, unauthorized by God’s word (see Gal. 1: 6-9; Rev. 22: 18,19). Christmas and Easter owe their beginning to man, not God and after doing quite a bit of research, I choose to observe those festivals that have a God-centered beginning and sole meaning. -I worship God, Yeshua (Jesus) and Spirit as one -- "Hear O Isreal, the Lord, your God is one God" (Deut 6:4)

-I recognize my daily choices with regards to blessings and cursings-- I think that God loves us enough to give us His best, and in the Bible, the commands outline what is BEST for our health and life..

For more information about observing the Biblical holidays, explore the following sites. Please realize that I did not write these, but they greatly reflect my worldview. Again, ask me if you have questions about where I stand on this...

  • The roots of Easter, Christmas, and Halloween--for your information. There are many other sites, and I would encourage you to research these things for more understanding, and pray for wisdom from God as to what you should celebrate. I know that ones heart is more important than the history, especially with regard to Christmas and Easter.
